Disney released a new Black Panther clip today that may recall some memories of early Fast and Furious movies to some viewers.
[Warning: The following clip does contain some spoilers for Black Panther. If you’re attempting to go in knowing as little as possible, you might want to turn back now.]
The clip features T’Challa, as Black Panther, gliding through traffic on the roof of a stolen Lexus being driven by Shuri, one of Wakanda’s smartest citizens. We can gather that Black Panther is trying to chase something down, and some dangerous guys with weapons are trying to stop him. Black Panther’s his technologically advanced suit is absorbs the kinetic energy from the gunfire and converts that into a blast that wipes out the enemy vehicle.
The swerving car chase, with Black Panther and Shuri trying to overtake the truck almost feels like something out of The Fast and the Furious. Well, if The Fast and the Furious had a bigger budget and cool superheroes.
Black Panther is one of Marvel’s most anticipated movies, and kicks off the studio’s slate of blockbuster films for this year when it premieres on Feb. 16. Avengers: Infinity War, another one of Marvel’s most hyped movies for the year, follows on May 4, 2018.
