Update (Oct. 16): Services are back to being fully operational.

Sony’s PlayStation Network is currently experiencing some issues with account management, gaming and social features, although details are scant about how many people are affected or when the problems will be fixed.

The only notice of the issues was a tweet that pointed players toward the official site for checking the availability.

“You may have some difficulty signing in or creating an account on PlayStation Network,” the official status page explains. “Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.”

Expect issues with signing on, creating accounts and editing account details, according to Sony. But that’s not the extent of the issues.

“You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features,” Sony continues. “Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.”

We’ll update this piece when we have more information or Sony reports that the problems have been solved.
