After taking a year off, Destiny’s Festival of the Lost event is finally coming to Destiny 2. The festival is intended to celebrate all things spooky, and is an in-universe stand-in for Halloween. Past years have offered players masks and quests to trick-or-treat around the Tower. However, Bungie teased in this week’s blog post that the Festival of the Lost will ask players to solve a murder this year.
While we don’t have a lot of details yet, we know that the Festival of the Lost will include some kind of costume party and murder mystery. In a screenshot that we grabbed from Bungie’s most recent ViDoc, you can see a Warlock player kneeling near a glowing bust. While we aren’t entirely sure, it looks like this could depict Master Ives, the Reef’s cryptarch from Destiny. Could he be the victim in the murder Bungie alluded to?

As far as rewards, we know almost nothing. However, there was a supposed leak only a few days ago on Reddit suggesting that the Thunderlord Exotic machine gun from Destiny will be returning in Festival of the Lost. The leak comes from Reddit user AnonTheNine, who has a pretty good history with leaking correct Destiny information. However, they’ve recently deleted all of their past posts, making it difficult to lend any real credibility to this leak — as exciting as it would be.
Bungie confirmed that we’ll see a full reveal for Festival of the Lost next week. We’ll update this post with more details as they’re revealed. Festival of the Lost will become available for all Destiny 2 players starting Oct. 16.
