Update (Nov. 15): Insomniac confirmed Sunset Overdrive is coming to PC. It launches Nov. 16.
Update (Nov. 16): Microsoft P.R. confirmed that Sunset Overdrive isn’t an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so those who already have it on Xbox One do not have access to it on Windows. The game is available on Steam and the Xbox Store.
It looks like Sunset Overdrive is coming to PC.
Insomniac Games’ Xbox One exclusive open-world adventure just got an ESRB listing for PC. The rating and summary is identical to the one the game received when it launched in 2014.
We’ve reached out to Microsoft for a comment and indication of when Sunset Overdrive will launch for PC, but the listing suggests Microsoft’s widening inclusion of the PC in its Xbox plans.
A week ago, Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella told investors that Xbox Game Pass, the all-you-can-eat subscription service for Xbox One, would eventually come to Windows 10 users. And earlier this year, the company said that all Xbox-exclusive games would be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on the same day they launch.
Sunset Overdrive, published by Microsoft Studios, is a colorful, romping third-person action-adventure that earned critical praise for its humorous tone and gameplay. It was Insomniac’s first Xbox-exclusive title after more than 15 years developing exclusively for PlayStation.
Update (Nov. 12): A PC version of Sunset Overdrive is now on Amazon for $19.99. THQ Nordic is publishing the game for Windows PC, not Microsoft Studios.
Update (Nov. 15): Xbox’s Larry Hryb today confirmed that Sunset Overdrive is coming to PC. More details will be available on the Nov. 16 This Week on Xbox.
