Twitch is streaming Pokémon for Thanksgiving

If you’re anything like me, your Thanksgiving consists of some combination of the following: a lot of turkey; a lot of quiet, solitary introspection; a lot of gaming in my pajamas; a return to the aforementioned quiet, solitary introspection; and a lot of television, ranging from bad to mediocre in quality.

I hope you’re nothing like me, and that your holiday is very little like mine. But should any of this sound familiar, at least Twitch is swooping in to help us out on one level. The streaming platform will air the first five seasons of the Pokémon cartoon starting at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 22. The first portion of episodes will run until Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET, before picking up again on Dec. 24 for a Christmastime special. That will end on Jan. 3, 2019 (yikes).

The Twitch Presents channel will host the marathon, as it did in August. A similar Pokémon stream ran for several days and consisted of 936 episodes and 16 movies. This holiday mini-marathon will be a few hundred episodes shorter, but it’s still a much better way to while away those self-reflective hours than watching some dumb Thanksgiving-adjacent movie on Netflix.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I guess. Plus, if you’re an East Coast-er, you’ve gotta fill in those earlier hours of the day somehow.
