Obi-Wan Kenobi joins Battlefront 2’s roster on Nov. 28

Two appearances at the start, with a third coming later

Obi-Wan Kenobi — Ewan McGregor, not Sir Alec Guinness, that is — will join Star Wars Battlefront 2’s roster of heroes on Nov. 28. The venerable Jedi arrives with two appearances, a “Jedi Master” look and a robed costume that more recalls his later incarnation.

The good ol’ Jedi Mind Trick is among Obi-Wan’s complement of abilities; when used, a target’s own abilities are disrupted for a short time, including their dodges. Known more for his defense mastery, Kenobi’s blocking is superior to all other Jedi heroes, and it can be used for offense too. The “Defensive Rush” ability pushes him forward, redirecting blaster fire at enemies with his whirling lightsaber.

EA DICE said “our intention is to make him feel like the general we follow throughout the Clone Wars,” noting that the 212th Attack Battalion of clone troopers will also come to Battlefront 2 (as Galactic Republic appearances) with the Battle of Geonosis.

A General Kenobi appearance will join the game later. Both it and the Robed look are available for purchase with both Credits (the free in-game currency) or Crystals (the stuff bought for real money).

Kenobi was announced for the game back in August, and was preceded by his Revenge of the Sith nemesis, the tubercular mecha-cockroach known as General Grievous. Count Dooku and a light-side Anakin Skywalker are expected later in the winter, along with an all-new game mode.
