Netflix’s Aggretsuko wants to wish you a very metal Christmas

That’s hardcore

It’s holiday special season, which means that every show out there is getting a special themed episode, including Netflix’s Aggretsuko, the anime about a red panda with a boring adult job who likes to let loose with death metal karaoke.

The anime premiered in April 2018 and garnered a quick fan base for being totally relatable — sure, we grew up with Hello Kitty’s charm and idealistic life, but Aggretsuko’s main character Retsuko is an introverted 20-something who is stuck on the grind and deals with work frustrations and relationships just like the rest of us. A second season is on its way sometime in 2019.

The holiday special, entitled Aggretsuko: We Wish You a Metal Christmas, will follow Retsuko as she tries to make Christmas Eve plans while her new obsession with social media spirals out of control. After Retsuko cheerily announces the special episode in the trailer, rocking death metal version of “Jingle Bells” plays over holiday-themed scenes. We wouldn’t expect anything else.

Aggretsuko: We Wish You a Metal Christmas will premiere on Dec. 20.
