The Predator franchise has become self-aware, and 2018’s film proved that it’s willing to wink at the audience while delivering what everyone paid to see: an R-rated festival of violence and bloodshed. And now 20th Century Fox is releasing a holiday special to tie into the movie’s Blu-ray and streaming release.
You can watch the trailer above, and it provides the same kind of meta-textual thrills of the movie. If you’ve ever fantasized about what it would look like if the Predator infiltrated a stop-motion Christmas special — and honestly, who hasn’t? — this is right up your alley.
Everyone needs more minigun reindeer in their lives.
“The stop-motion animated Holiday Short featuring The Predator as he tangles with his most formidable foe yet — Santa and his reindeer,” the trailer’s description explains. “Watch The Predator Holiday Short during BoJack Horseman, next Wednesday (12/19) on Comedy Central.”
You’ll want to send the kids to bed before watching this one, judging by what little we’ve seen so far.
The Predator has already been released digitally, with the Blu-ray coming on Dec. 18.
