Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer hints at the intense conclusion we’ve always wanted

This supersized teaser brings back characters in new ways

Kingdom Hearts 3 may have leaked a little (or a lot) early over the weekend, but for those of us who choose to remain unspoiled, the game’s newest trailer serves as an amazing way to hype us up.

This one prepares us for the final fight of the Kingdom Hearts trilogy, with Sora, Donald and Goofy splitting their time between chilling with the Frozen cast, Tigger and Remy from Ratatouille, and watching the decimation of worlds like that of Toy Story and Hercules.

It’s nice that it’s not all death and destruction; Sora dances with some Tangled townspeople in this four-minute look. We also get to see Axel and Kairi for the first time in a long time, with Kairi now wielding a keyblade of her own. (Roxas, Sora’s nobody and the hero of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, also stops by.)

But toward the end, things get a lot darker. Organization XIII very calmly wrecks Sora’s crew, and even someone as strong as Riku hardly withstands it. And it sure looks like someone may die during this fight, but we’ll let you speculate for yourself.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is out Jan. 29 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After 15-ish years, we’re still impatiently waiting for it.
