Tear up PUBG’s newest wintry map with snowmobiles

Snowmobiles and a new weapon await in a winter wasteland

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ newest map, Vikendi, is now available on Windows PC, along with a limited-time pass that adds extra goods to the game.

The map is a frozen wasteland with eastern European themes to the terrain, , fitting for a late December launch.

“Small enough for players to memorize their preferred drop zones or quickly adapt, but large enough to take each match at its own pace and explore a range of diverse and unique environments,” developers said. The accompanying video (above) gives a sense of the territory.

Vikendi includes a cosmodrome, an abandoned amusement park (“Dino Park”) and a central maze, along with some European-type cities in the environment. Players will also find snowmobiles (“snow machines, someone in upstate New York is saying, rolling their eyes) and the G36C rifle in the new map, too. The gun trades easier handling for a lower fire rate among the 5.56 mm class of weapons.

Additionally, the Survivor Pass is launching with Vikendi. The 10-week pass includes 300 missions, through which players may earn skins and other rewards. It’s free, but for $9.99, players can get faster leveling and exclusive missions up front.

All of this stuff will launch in PUBG on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January, PUBG Corp. said.
