Jump Force, Bandai Namco’s next anime-inspired fighting game, received a story mode trailer today that explains how this mashup of Shonen Jump manga all fits together in the same world. Bandai Namco also confirmed some more fighters for the game’s roster when it launches in February.
Trunks from Dragon Ball, as expected, is on that list. He gets the party started by activating some type of cube that takes us to the good guys’ base for the explanation. Basically, all of the various canons belong to a collective concept known as “Jump.” Ergo, the Jump Force is the best of all these worlds, coming together to whoop some ass against their enemies, who have likewise banded together to do villain stuff.
Players will join Jump Force with their created characters, whose customization options are shown off once more. It looks as though you can deploy just about every look, style and detail familiar to the genre. Customization includes movesets, of course, which is also quickly shown in the avatar creation process. Other characters’ signature moves, like the Spirit Bomb, can all be mashed up with spiky hair, poofy shirts and sailor-girl costumes.
Other fighters shown in screenshots Banda Namco released to kick off Jump Festa (which is this weekend in Japan) include Boa Hancock from One Piece, Renji Abarai from Bleach and Deku from My Hero Academia.
Jump Force is coming Feb. 15 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
