The Shadow of the Colossus remake’s new secret has been discovered

The Shadow of the Colossus remake contains a new collectible challenge that unlocks a new reward — The Sword of Dormin.

PS4Trophies of YouTube (via Eurogamer) found the sword early Friday morning. The Sword of Dormin, so named for the mysterious spirit who speaks to Wander throughout the adventure. The sword increases Wander’s damage output but reduces his health regeneration.

To get it, players must collect all 79 of the new collectibles introduced in the remake. Once that happens, the sword can be found in a cave underneath the main temple in the game’s starting area.

The discovery can be seen at the 2:23:50 mark of this stream.

The Sword of Dormin culminates a hidden quest that players had been working to figure out since it launched on Tuesday, Feb. 6. At first they had no idea how many relics they had to find; the number 79 was found to be the correct answer, after finding a message in the end credits referring to “the 79 steps to enlightenment.”
