A new trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising celebrates one of the franchise’s coolest aspects: the Kaiju.
About halfway through the new trailer, an electrifying (literally) Kaiju can be seen taking on an equally monstrously sized Jaeger. The clash between the two towering figures promises to be one of the movie’s most memorable moments based on what we’ve seen so far. This is the third official trailer that has been released, and is specifically designed to showcase IMAX’s capabilities.
Pacific Rim Uprising picks up 10 years after Pacific Rim’s most notable battle. The Jaeger program is now Earth’s leading defense force to tackle the Kaiju. Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), joins the Jaeger program, welcomed by his adoptive sister Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) as they attempt to prepare for the next wave of Kaiju monsters.
Pacific Rim Uprising will be released on March 23, 2018, and yes, Charlie Day will reprise his role as the Kaiju fanboy Dr. Newton Geiszler.
