Kirby maker HAL Laboratory’s first mobile game comes west

Part-Time UFO is out now for iOS and Android

Part Time UFO, the mobile game by Kirby developer HAL Laboratory, has launched on Western app stores. It’s a charming physics game, in which a claw-equipped flying saucer helps people out by moving and stacking things.

According to Part Time UFO’s official site, users steer the UFO around the screen pick up objects and pile them up at a designated platform. Stacking enough of them completes the level and results in the UFO receiving its part-time pay. No word on if the UFO is limited to working 29 hours per week. (That’s a joke. The game costs $3.99, and you can play it all you want.)

Part Time UFO launched in Japan as Hataraku UFO back in November. It’s the first game out of HAL’s new mobile division, HAL Egg. The game is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play, and there are no ads or in-game transactions.

HAL’s next console game is Kirby Star Allies, coming to Nintendo Switch on March 16. It’s one of our most anticipated games of the year. We got a good look at two levels of its multiplayer and wrote up some impressions earlier this month.
