Vostok Games, the team of ex-STALKER developers behind Survarium, are bringing their post-apocalyptic style to the battle royale genre with a new first-person shooter called Fear the Wolves. Set in “radiation-ravaged Chernobyl,” Fear the Wolves will send 100 fighters into a battleground with the goal of being the last player standing.

Publisher Focus Home Interactive said Vostok’s take on the genre will have a few twists. In Fear the Wolves, players will have to worry about more than just other survivors; “deadly anomalies and dynamically-changing weather,” as well as a day-night cycle will require players to adapt to survive. Players can also find and equip protective gear that will let them survive in “dangerous off-limit zones.”

Vostok also teased that “mutated creatures” inhabit the irradiated wastelands of Fear the Wolves, but didn’t say if they factor into gameplay. The developer also promised a “second intense and original game mode will also bring a fierce new twist to the genre.”

Fear the Wolves is planned for release on consoles and PC in 2018. The developer said the game will have early access on PC prior to its commercial release. Vostok’s Survarium has been in Steam Early Access since 2015.
