Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer teases a new evil, troubled times

It’s a dangerous time to be a muggle

The Harry Potter universe is ushering in a new age of evil as seen in the first Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald teaser trailer.

The Crimes of Grindelwald continues where the first Fantastic Beasts finished: the wizarding world reeling from the realization that Graves (Colin Farrell) was actually the monstrous Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). The Crimes of Grindelwald will explore the dark wizard’s attempt to create an army of pure-blooded beings that rule over all non-magical — or nonmaj — people. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) will team up with a young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) in an effort to stop Grindelwald from achieving his goal.

We all know just how nasty Grindelwald is. The wizard was named one of the most dangerous wizards of all time, second only to Voldemort, according to Rita Skeeter’s book, The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore. His rise to power and his close relationship with Dumbledore are two key components of his character, but only the former will be acknowledged in the film. Although J.K. Rowling said Dumbledore was in love with Grindelwald, a lifelong friend, director David Yates said the film won’t explore their relationship.

The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released on Nov. 16.
