It’s a good year for Crash fans. In addition to news of the N. Sane trilogy heading to the Nintendo Switch, Dark Horse is publishing a hardcover reprint of the original Crash Bandicoot developer’s bible. You’ll be able to get a firsthand look at everything from initial character sketches to level designs.
One of the first names that creators Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin gave the trademark marsupial was actually “Willy” before finally settling on “Crash”. Some of the pages below show bits of concept art, scenery and enemies that haven’t appeared in the final product. Diehard Crash fans will have an opportunity to see which of the initial stylistic elements survived and didn’t, what could’ve been in the games and of course, their favorite hero: Crash.
Priced at $29.99, The Crash Bandicoot Files: How Willy the Wombat Sparked Marsupial Mania will be available in hardcover on March 27, 2018.
