Zone of the Enders 2 remaster coming in September (update)

PS4 and PC remaster coming Sept. 4

Konami’s high-definition remake of action mecha game Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR and Windows PC via Steam in September 2018, Konami announced today. The game was originally planned for release this spring.

Alongside a new release window, Konami also released a new trailer for Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner — Mars that compares the 2018 remaster to its predecessors: the original PlayStation 2 game and the 2009 Zone of the Enders HD Collection version released on PlayStation 3. Konami announced Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner — Mars at last year’s Tokyo Game Show. The new version of the game will include 4K support and a virtual reality mode.

We played the remaster at TGS on PlayStation 4, and enjoyed the 4K visual upgrade a lot more than the PlayStation VR support. You can read our impressions here.

Update: Konami announced that Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner — Mars will launch Sept. 4 in the Americas and Sept. 6 globally. It will cost $29.99. The remaster will include the following new features:

Optional “Pro Mode” controller setup allows for faster selection of sub-weapons to help engage in rapid-fire combat

“Very Easy” difficulty setting offers an alternative option for players who wish to enjoy the cinematic experience of the game’s story or are new to VR

Various training modules and a mini-map

Additional VR content for an even more captivating experience:

3D Hangar: Interact with Jehuty in VR

3D Model Viewer: Explore various refined 3D models in full 360 degrees

Cinematic Theater: After completing the game, unlock the ability to re-watch any story sequence with the option to view cut-scenes in full VR

A new trailer is available below.
