PlayStation VR gets another hefty price cut

Sony’s VR headset keeps getting cheaper

Sony is cutting the price of the PlayStation VR headset — for the second time in the hardware’s lifespan. Starting March 29, the virtual reality gear and accompanying bundles will cost as much as $100 less.

Currently priced at $349, the PlayStation VR headset on its own will drop to $299 as of tomorrow. That’s not insignificant, but the big cuts are coming to the bundles. A package that includes the PSVR headset, a PlayStation Camera, Demo Disc 2.0 and the “VFR” version of Doom will cost $299, the same as the individual headset — 25 percent less than its original $399 price.

As for the Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim VR bundle, that also drops $100, bringing the price down to $349.99. The pricier set includes much the same content as the Doom bundle, albeit with two PlayStation Move controllers as well.

Sony tested out these prices for the bundles in February, offering both at a discount for a limited time. Now, the $100 price drop is permanent.

PlayStation VR is definitely the most cost-effective virtual reality option out there, but it also has what may be the strongest library of games. Both Doom and Skyrim are worth checking out in VR, and we especially liked the recent exclusive Moss.
