It’s that time of year where we all gather around our televisions (or laptops) to watch the who’s who of Hollywood come together and celebrate their achievements in film.
The 2018 Oscars are shaping up to be one of the more interesting years, with hard-to-define genre films competing with typical Oscar-bait pictures. Get Out, one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year, will go head-to-head with heavyweight Big Picture contenders like The Shape of Water and Call Me By Your Name. Coco will compete with The Boss Baby for Best Animated Picture, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi will try to best Blade Runner 2049 in the technical categories.
It’s not just the awards that will capture our attention, either. From bizarre commercials for James Cameron’s Avatar theme park to Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway messing up the announcement for Best Picture at last year’s Oscars, there are sure to be a few goofs that will keep the night interesting.
The Oscars kick off at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel will host.
