Happy Wars is shutting down on PC and Xbox 360

It’ll still be around on Xbox One

Happy Wars has some sad news. It’s closing down on Windows PC and Xbox 360.

:-(

The shutdown happens on those two platforms on Dec. 17, 2018. It’ll still be available on Xbox One.

Happy Wars will be removed from the Xbox 360 and Windows 10 marketplaces on June 14. Happy Tickets, the game’s currency available for purchase with real money, will no longer be sold after 8 p.m. ET on April 11.

With the game still active on Xbox One, that means players have one week — until March 15 — to transfer any of their Happy Tickets to that version. Afterward, they become locked to their platform, where they will be usable until the game shuts down on PC and Xbox 360 in December.

Happy Wars in-game events will continue on PC and Xbox 360 until June 13. The Xbox One version of the game will continue to host new in-game events after that date.

This FAQ has more detail.

Happy Wars launched in 2012 on Xbox Live Arcade, in 2014 on PC and then in 2015 for Xbox One, where it will still survive. It was the first free-to-play game offered on Xbox Live, with customization options sold at microtransaction amounts.
