Luigi’s Mansion, the GameCube launch title starring Mario’s taller brother, is being remade for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo announced today during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
In Luigi’s Mansion, Mario has gone missing, and Luigi must overcome his fears and search every nook and cranny of a dark mansion in order to find him. Oh, and the mansion is haunted by ghosts.
Nintendo originally released Luigi’s Mansion in 2001, and has not ported the game to another platform since then. The remake will include a new Boss Rush mode, according to the Nintendo Direct. Another new feature for the 3DS version is that the in-game map will be displayed on the handheld’s touchscreen.
Luigi’s Mansion will arrive on Nintendo 3DS sometime this year; Nintendo did not provide a more specific release window. It will be the second entry in the franchise to be available on that platform — a sequel to the original game, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, launched on 3DS in 2013.
