Mario & Luigi Bowser’s Inside Story is relaunching on Nintendo 3DS in 2019 along with a new extension: Bowser Jr.’s Journey. Nintendo announced the return of the role-playing game to its handheld lineup during this afternoon’s Nintendo Direct.
The re-roll of the series, which first launched in 2009 for Nintendo DS resembles the October launch of Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions, which brought Superstar Saga to 3DS alongside a new chapter with more characters and an entirely new story.
From the Nintendo Direct presentation, it appears that Bowser Jr.’s Journey will follow the same model as an extension of the original game. “Find out what happens behind the scenes with Bowser’s son, Junior,” Nintendo said in the show. Mario & Luigi Bowser’s Inside Story will launch with new visuals and gameplay mechanics for the New Nintendo 3DS next year.
