Dark Souls is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer, and one of the game’s breakout stars, Solaire of Astora, is getting his own amiibo. Nintendo announced the amiibo figure during today’s Nintendo Direct, confirming that it will arrive the same day Dark Souls: Remastered comes to Switch.
It’s not clear yet what the Solaire amiibo will do when used with Dark Souls: Remastered (or other Switch software) but it would certainly be the best way to trigger the “Praise the sun!” emote in-game. (Update: That’s exactly what it does. “By tapping this amiibo, the popular ‘Praise the Sun’ gesture can be used with reckless abandon from the start of the game,” Nintendo said in a news release.)
Dark Souls Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on May 25.
Prior to the release of the game, publisher Bandai Namco plans to hold a network test for Dark Souls: Remastered. The network test version will be available from the Nintendo eShop. More details on the test version are promised soon.
