In 2016, Blizzard Entertainment and Dark Horse teamed up for the first World of Warcraft Chronicle book, with a second volume following in 2017. At the end of this month, the team will continue the story with World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume 3.
The Chronicle series details and retells the history of the Warcraft games. The first started with the history of the universe, telling the tale of the Titans, the Old Gods, and the rise of the fallen Titan Sargeras. Chronicle 2 followed the first orc and human wars — the stories of the original Warcraft games. Chronicle 3 will finally bring the story into the World of Warcraft era, telling the tale of the war against Arthas, the Lich King, and the Cataclysm.
Dark Horse was kind enough to send Polygon some preview pages of Chronicle III, and you can check them out below.
Like the other volumes of Chronicle, 3 features fabulous art from Peter Lee, Stanton Feng, Joseph Lacroix and others, depicting scenes never seen before in or out of game and maps that detail conflicts that players have experienced on the ground level. It was designed by David Nestelle and credits Blizzard Entertainment’s Chris Metzen, Matt Burns, and Robert Brooks as its authors. All of this gorgeous art and lore fills the book’s 184 pages, and Warcraft fans will be able to pick up their own copy of World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume 3 for 39.99 on Mar. 27.
