There’s an incredible amount of detailed tucked away in the corners of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, including one hidden-in-plain-sight Easter egg recently spotted by a user on Reddit. It’s part of the Trials of the Sword downloadable content for Breath of the Wild that hit last summer, so ... spoiler alert.

Reddit user kamuilyn posted their finding this weekend after realizing that the seven unnamed monks who watch over the Master Sword in the Sword Monk’s Shrine are a callback to the seven sages in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

“Okay, so I just finished the Trial of the Sword and immediately noticed the 7 monks are representing the 7 Sages,” kamuilyn posted on the Breath of the Wild subreddit.

Here’s a comparison image they put together, showing the monks and their Ocarina of Time sage counterparts (in order, Princess Zelda, Rauru, Darunia, Princess Ruto, Nabooru, Impa and Saria):

Surely this was spotted by some hardcore Zelda fans, but it’s a detail that’s pretty easy to gloss over.

Trials of the Sword is included as part of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s first batch of DLC, which also added a hard mode, Hero’s Path mode and new equipment like the Korok Mask and Travel Medallion.

The next level of puzzles.
