The Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls: Remastered won’t make its previously scheduled May 25 release date. Publisher Bandai Namco announced today that the Switch release has been rescheduled for “summer of 2018.”
The Solaire of Astora amiibo, which was also slated to hit May 25, has also been delayed to match the Switch version’s new release window.
The PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One versions of Dark Souls: Remastered are still on schedule for release in May.
“Due to the nature of causality, we must announce that the Nintendo Switch version of [Dark Souls Remastered] will be pushed back to summer of 2018, and with it, the release of the Solaire of Astora amiibo,” Bandai Namco said on the official Dark Souls Twitter account. “PC/PS4/X1 versions will maintain their May 25th release date.
“Rest assured, this time will ultimately be used to improve your journey to Lordran.”
It’s not clear why the Switch version of Dark Souls was pushed back. That version of the game was recently shown in hands-on form at PAX East earlier this month.
Dark Souls: Remastered was announced in January. The remaster of FromSoftware’s 2011 game promises improved resolution and framerate, as well as a handful of quality of life improvements.
