It’s not Halloween, but Microsoft seems to think we’re in the mood for something spooky. They’re offering up to 75 percent off horror-themed Xbox games in what’s being billed as an “Un-Halloween Horror Spectacular Sale”. It includes some pretty great games — in varying degrees of creepiness. On the terrifying end of the spectrum is the survival horror game Outlast, one of the Xbox One’s first backwards compatible titles, on sale for $5 (usually $19.99). On the more whimsical side of things, you can grab the rhythmic dungeon crawler Crypt of the NecroDancer for $4.50 (usually $14.99).

Jackbox Party Pack 3in my opinion the best edition of the Jackbox party games — is included in this sale, too. Presumably due to the Trivia Murder Party game, which has the fun gimmick of being hosted by a serial killer who murders you if you get a question wrong.

Nintendo Switch users can take advantage of a few deals on Switch controllers and accessories this week. The Switch Pro Controller is still $10 off its MSRP of $69.99 at most retailers including Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy. An extra pair of Joy-Cons is down to $69. That’s not the lowest price we’ve ever seen on Joy-Cons, but with Nintendo we’ll take what we can get. Amazon Prime members can also grab a Nintendo Switch Stand as an add-on purchase for $6.27 (usually $11.99) with an order over $25.

  • Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked members: this is your last call to pre-order God of War for 20 percent off and three free shield skins before it’s released on Friday. (Pre-orders already sold out on Amazon.) You can read Polygon’s review of the game here. Spoiler alert: we loved it.
  • Today is the 80th anniversary of Action Comics No. 1, aka the world’s introduction to Superman. To celebrate, Comixology is offering up to 85 percent off over 100 digital comics featuring the Man of Steel. One of my personal favorite graphic novels, Superman: Red Son, is on sale for $5.99 (usually $12.99). Written by Mark Millar (the creator of Marvel’s Civil War) Superman: Red Son takes place in a parallel universe where baby Kal-El landed in Soviet-occupied Ukraine instead of Kansas.
  • I just downloaded Peggle and was immediately transported back to playing PopCap games on my high school PC when I was supposed to be paying attention in class. If you’re into puzzle games from the mid-2000s, Peggle is free for PC at Origin right now.
