Red Dead Redemption 2 publisher Rockstar Games will release a new trailer for the open-world Old West adventure this Wednesday, May 2, the company announced today.
This will be the third trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, following the debut from October 2016 and the second trailer, which wasn’t published until September 2017. In the interim, Rockstar delayed the game from its original fall 2017 release window to spring 2018; in February, the company pushed back the game one more time to a concrete release date of Oct. 26, 2018.
Here’s the plot synopsis that Rockstar gave along with the second trailer: Red Dead Redemption 2 is “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.”
Rockstar did not provide any information on what the new trailer will show off. The first two have focused on setting the stage, offering snippets of story in narration playing over scenes of peaceful wandering in the wilderness of the American West as well as sequences of violent shootouts and robberies.
It’s possible that the third trailer may continue down that path, telling us a bit more about Arthur, Dutch and their band of outlaws in the twilight of the 19th century. Or perhaps it will give us a glimpse of something that Rockstar mentioned when it announced Red Dead Redemption 2 but hasn’t talked about since: that the game will offer “a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
We’ll find out very soon. Check back in 48 hours, at 11 a.m. ET on May 2, to see the trailer. Red Dead Redemption 2 itself will launch Oct. 26 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
