Deckard Cain, the scholar and item identifier of Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo series, is coming to Heroes of the Storm as a playable character, Blizzard announced today. While Cain being playable in Blizzard’s MOBA is no joke, some of his abilities definitely are.
Diablo’s Deckard Cain will be playable in Heroes of the Storm
Cain can put enemies to sleep with incessant rambling
Cain is a support character who can aid his Heroes of the Storm allies in battle by tossing them healing potions. He also benefits from sticking close to his teammates; when at least one other allied hero is nearby, Deckard gains 10 armor and his basic abilities recharge 50 percent faster.
His offensive abilities include the Horadric Cube, which he can throw to deal 80 damage to all enemies in the area and slow them by 40 percent for 1.75 seconds, and the Scroll of Sealing, with which Cain draws a magical triangle that deals 150 damage to enemies inside of it and roots them in place for 1.5 seconds.
Cain’s ultimate abilities include Stay Awhile and Listen, which only makes me feel sad for ol’ Deckard. The hero will literally put enemies to sleep by telling them stories. Any foe in earshot (represented as a cone-shaped area in front of Cain) will be put to sleep for two seconds. His Lorenado ability sends out a swirling, damaging tome that knocks away enemies who come in contact with it.
Blizzard’s hero introduction video for Deckard Cain, seen above, walks players through his many talents and abilities in Heroes of the Storm. Deckard Cain will be playable on Heroes of the Storm’s public test region soon, according to Blizzard. Some screenshots of him in action can be seen below.
