The first look at Shane Black’s highly anticipated take on The Predator is finally here.
20th Century Fox released the first trailer for Black’s film today, a reinvention of the original Predator series. Unlike John McTiernan’s version of Predator, which was released in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzengger as a skilled hunter, Black’s iteration will focus on a group of smarter, genetically enhanced monsters that a team of ex-soldiers are forced to eliminate in order to save Earth from total destruction.
And, naturally, it’s all award-nominated actor Jacob Tremblay’s fault.
Fox’s full synopsis of the film can be read below.
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
The Predator, which also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn and Sterling K. Brown, will be released on Sept. 14.
