New Incredibles 2 clip throws back to classic Incredibles meme

He found his super suit

A new clip for Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2 includes a fresh look at Samuel L. Jackson’s Lucius Best and makes a pretty great joke in the process.

Best, otherwise known as the superhero Frozone, is reunited with the Parr family. When it comes time to save the universe, Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) asks Best to suit up and join the fight. Once he grabs his suit, telling Parr he’ll be there ASAP, his wife’s voice can be heard from down the hall telling him to “be back ASAP.”

It’s a cute little scene that calls back to a popular moment in theThe Incredibles, when Best and his wife are arguing about the location of his super suit. That fight also took place with his wife off-screen somewhere in the house, while Best tried to find his suit and join the Parrs in saving the universe.

It became so iconic that it eventually became a meme — impressive in 2004, the internet’s pre-YouTube and pre-Reddit days. The original “Where is my super suit?” meme originated on a hub known as YTMND, best known as a meme hub of sorts.

A version of Best in this scene but revamped to incorporate Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction quickly made the rounds on the site. Still, it wasn’t until 2011 that a different version of the scene was remixed and uploaded to YouTube.

The remixed meme incorporated different movies, TV shows and music videos that included Jackson’s original dialogue from the film. “Where’s my super suit?” isn’t as popular as it once was, but it still pops up from time-to-time; hopefully, Incredibles 2 will give us something similar.

It’s silly, but the little ode is almost proof that Disney and Pixar understand what we want to see more of in Incredibles 2, a sequel almost 15 years in the making. The official synopsis for the film can be read below.

Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.

Incredibles 2 will be released on June 15, 2018.
