Rage 2 gameplay trailer shows off the game’s apocalyptic mayhem

Release window set for 2019

The first gameplay trailer for Rage 2 is out in the wild, and it looks intense.

Above, the video shows off multiple, distinct factions and various environments, including wide-open deserts and a dense jungle that looks like something out of a Vietnam War-era movie. Enemies include your run-of-the-mill punks fighting with guns and re-purposed sporting goods, but also gigantic, troll-like enemies and even large mechs.

According to Bethesda, players will take on the role of Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland, who has been robbed and left for dead by agents of The Authority.

An imminent Rage 2 reveal was hinted at earlier this month by a leaked Walmart listing, prompting publisher Bethesda to respond coyly on social media. The original game, Rage, was released in 2010 and developed by id Software. This time around, id has teamed up with Avalanche Studios, the team behind the Just Cause series. The result is a particularly high-octane mix of vehicles and first-person combat.

Rage 2 has a release window in 2019, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
