Destiny’s Armsday rumored to return as Armsweek in Destiny 2

Players have found secret hints on Bungie’s website

The Destiny 2 subreddit has been abuzz with Destiny secrets for the past two weeks, as hunters try and find all manner of hidden objectives in Warmind, the game’s latest expansion. But players recently found some hints that a new Destiny 2 weekly event could be coming in the near future: Armsweek.

By searching “Armsweek” on Bungie’s website, players can view a few new events that suggest one thing: locked loadouts. There is currently nothing else in Destiny 2 with locked loadouts, so these official activities couldn’t fit into any existing event.

Three of these events are Nightfall-specific and seem to reward players with exotic catalysts for three existing exotics: The Prospector, Hard Light, and Rat King. All three of these exotic weapons are currently without exotic catalysts, and players have been unable to find them naturally, suggesting they will be coming from a currently unknown source. If Armsweek does become a new event, it would likely join the rotation of weekly events like Iron Banner and Faction Rally.

Armsweek seems to be named after Armsday, a weekly event introduced in Destiny: The Taken King where players could order weapons with random stat rolls a week in advance. After completing some quests, they could come back the next Wednesday to pick up their guns.

Forcing players to use specific weapons in activities would be something new for Destiny. While some of the harder activities in the game, like Trials of the Nine, lock player equipment in place once they enter the activity, they can still use the weapons of their choice.

It’s worth noting that the Reddit post suggests that Armsweek could potentially be Bungie’s summer holiday event. However, Bungie announced Solstice of Heroes, a summer holiday in Destiny 2, shortly after this post was first created.

Polygon has reached out to Bungie regarding the rumors surrounding Armsweek and will update with more information accordingly.
