Pokémon Go will soon receive special new forms of several Kanto-region Pokémon. Drawn from Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, Alolan variants of Pokémon like Raichu, Diglett and Meowth are going to start popping up in the mobile game.
“Sunny days are ahead! Whether your forecast calls for rain or shine, we’re celebrating all around the world by introducing some special Pokémon from the tropical Alola region to Pokémon GO,” reads a blog post from the game’s website.
Things don’t get much more specific than that, although several silhouettes are used in a teaser image for the update. Nonetheless, it’s surprising to see Pokémon from the most recent generation of games make it into Pokémon Go so quickly. Players are still waiting on the fourth-gen monsters to be obtainable throughout the world (presumably so that the game will make way for the fifth generation, which is far more interesting). Then again, these Alolan forms are just new takes on existing Pokémon from the Kanto region, which is where Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are set.
All of this is to say that Dugtrio and its beautiful hair will soon be in Pokémon Go, and there’s no better news than that.
