Here’s a new look at the World War Z game

A peek at mowing-down-zombie-hordes gameplay

Paramount and developer Saber Interactive reminded us today that a video game based on World War Z — the movie, that is — is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One later this year. A new trailer for World War Z offers a glimpse at gameplay, which appears to substantially consist of mowing down hundreds of zombies.

World War Z’s gameplay trailer highlights one of the game’s locations: Moscow. The video shows a group of survivors setting up mounted machine guns and building barricades as they face swarms of enemies. Saber Interactive has pitched World War Z primarily as a four-player co-op action game that takes place in a variety of locations, including Jerusalem and New York. That campaign appears to draw inspiration from the original World War Z novel’s structure, focusing on “survivor stories and missions around the world.”

Saber, whose past work includes Inversion, Timeshift and Quake Champions, revealed World War Z at last year’s Game Awards show. A sequel to the movie World War Z is in the works with actor Brad Pitt and director David Fincher.
