PlayStation 4 gems — and a cute new console — get big, special sale

From June 8-18, Sony is putting a whole bunch of games, peripherals and console editions on sale. That even includes a limited-edition PlayStation 4 color, all part of its just-in-time-for-E3 “Days of Play” event.

If you have yet to play God of War somehow (it’s one of our favorite games of the year thus far), it’ll be $10 off for the duration of the sale. At $49.99, that’s a solid deal.

But what may be the best offer — as far as games are concerned — is Horizon Zero Dawn for $19.99. With the misfortune to launch right around The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a similarly acclaimed, open-world adventure game, Horizon Zero Dawn may have fallen off several people’s radars.

There’s also a deal on PlayStation 4 Pro systems during the event; they’re cut down to $349.99. But the real news here is a limited-edition 1 TB, blue, standard PS4, adorned with gold detailing based on the DualShock’s four buttons. It goes on sale June 8, right with the start of the sale.

The Polygon newsroom fell divided on whether this new PS4 color is tight as hell or garish; I’m on team “This is a good PS4 and I like it.”

One last callout: 12-month PlayStation Plus memberships will drop down to $49.99 until June 18, a discount of $9.99.
