Fortnite’s newest patch, v4.3, got its first teaser via the in-game news client, and it looks like Epic is adding shopping carts to Battle Royale.
Based on the in-game tease, it seems like this will be Fortnite’s first true vehicle — unless you count guided missile rocket riding — and it looks like you can even bring a friend along for the ride.
While it seems likely that the shopping cart will be Fortnite’s official mode of transportation, how exactly it will work remains a mystery. It could simply be an item that takes up an inventory slot, similar to the jetpack released in the game’s last content update. However it works, the shopping cart seems like it will provide players with a method of fast travel. Still unclear is if it will provide any extra protection for the players using it.
The idea of shopping carts as vehicles isn’t foreign to Fortnite Battle Royale players. Eagle-eyed players will know that there are shopping carts littered all through the map in odd locations. Particularly observant players might even remember that the map’s racetrack on the east coast has several shopping carts lined up at the starting line, as if getting ready for a race.
There’s no word on when shopping carts will be added to Fortnite Battle Royale, but it’s safe to assume they’ll be part of patch v4.3, which will be coming out later this week.
