Nintendo will release a new model of its New Nintendo 2DS XL this summer with a fresh Legend of Zelda theme. Based on Link’s Hylian Shield, the handheld will be sold exclusively at GameStop stores, Nintendo announced today.
The New Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition system will come preloaded with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, the 2013 Nintendo 3DS sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and will cost $159.99. The system will be available on July 2.
Nintendo first released the New Nintendo 2DS XL in the summer of 2017. The system, which plays games exclusively in 2D, features the same faster processor, built-in amiibo support, and additional inputs (analog nub and extra shoulder buttons) that were introduced with the release of the New Nintendo 3DS XL.
