Warhammer: Vermintide 2 gets a free content update

Green dust’s scarcity addressed; new challenge mode available

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 just got a sizable, and free, content update that brings mod support to the game, plus a bunch of new cosmetics and a new challenge mode delivering loot prizes. Plus, the shortage of the green dust crafting item has been addressed.

The challenge mode is called Okri’s Challenges, which is now accessed through a book inside the keep that had previously just been a background decoration. The mode offers daily quests to earn new loot. Players who can’t finish a quest that day can still do so later; they’ll stay active until the player completes or dismisses them.

Some of the 100-plus new cosmetic items can only be acquired through one of Okri’s Challenges. Fatshark also said that after hearing a lot of feedback from the community, it increased the chance of obtaining cosmetics through the game’s Commendations Chests. Vermintide 2’s loot chests can’t be bought for real money; we found the system quite appealing when we played it back in March.

Also in response to the community, dust, which is used in crafting, can now be converted into dust of a lower level. This is in response to the frustration many players expressed over obtaining green dust, which can now be converted from blue dust (and blue dust from orange).

Mod support will be available through Steam Workshop. Fatshark said it will have more about that in a post tomorrow. For more, a full list of patch notes is available here.
