Square Enix will show off its lineup of upcoming games during a dedicated E3 presentation this year, the company announced today.
The Square Enix E3 Showcase 2018 won’t be a traditional live press conference held onstage at a theater in Los Angeles. Instead, it will be more akin to a Nintendo Direct presentation: a livestream of a video that will have been “produced in advance,” according to an E3 FAQ from Square Enix.
The video, which will be available in both English and Japanese, is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT on Monday, June 11. It will be livestreamed on Facebook, Mixer, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube, and archived on YouTube. This will be Square Enix’s first E3 presentation in three years — E3 2015 was the last time the publisher held an E3 press briefing.
Square Enix gave no hints about its lineup, saying only, “We’ll connect you to the many worlds within our universe.” The company’s two biggest games scheduled to launch in 2018 are undoubtedly Shadow of the Tomb Raider, due out Sept. 14, and Kingdom Hearts 3, which doesn’t have a more specific release window than sometime this year. We may also hear more about the Avengers Project, the next Life is Strange game and Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age. And hey, maybe we’ll get an update about that Final Fantasy 7 remake, too.
