SNK announces the 40-game lineup for the Neo Geo mini-console

Coming to Japan this summer, worldwide later in the year

SNK’s throwback mini-console, the Neo Geo Mini announced back in May, will launch in Japan this summer and come west later this year. Yesterday, SNK announced the 40-game lineup for the console, which brings back the fighting games and beat-em-ups that made the publisher famous more than 25 years ago.

There is still no price or specific launch date for the unit. The full lineup of games begins at 9:30 of the video above. They are:

  • King of Fighters ‘94 through 2003
  • Samurai Shodown 2, 4 and 5 Special.
  • Real Bout Fatal Fury and Real Bout Fatal Fury 2
  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  • World Heroes Perfect
  • Kizuna Encounter
  • Art of Fighting
  • The Last Blade and The Last Blade 2
  • Ninja Masters
  • Aggressors of Dark Kombat
  • Metal Slug and Metal Slug 2 through 5, and Metal Slug X
  • King of the Monsters and King of the Monsters 2
  • Sengoku 3
  • Shock Troopers and Shock Troopers 2nd Squad
  • Top Hunter Roddy & Cathy
  • Ninja Commando
  • Burning Fight
  • Magician Lord
  • Blue’s Journey
  • Cyber-Lip
  • Robo Army
  • Crossed Swords
  • Mutation Nation
  • 3 Count Bout
  • Alpha Mission 2
  • Twinkle Star Sprites
  • Blazing Star
  • Last Resort
  • Ghost Pilots
  • Top Player’s Golf
  • Super Sidekicks
  • Football Frenzy
  • Puzzled

The console has an HDMI port so that it may be connected to a full-size television; it also will support gamepads (sold separately). The gamepads, available in black and white, are recreations of the controllers for the Neo Geo CD, which launched in Japan and Europe in 1994 and North America in 1996.

SNK said 14 games will be different on the international release; the Japan version will have more from the publisher’s fighting games lineup, while the western launch will feature more action titles.
