Bungie’s latest trailer for Destiny 2: Forsaken — which shows the death of Cayde-6, the beloved hunter Vanguard — debuted at Sony’s E3 2018 press conference earlier this week. Since then, players have been a few different forms of devastated over the loss of their wisecrackin’ pal.
A quick trip to the Destiny subreddit will offer a good variety of memes and goofs in memory of the community’s favorite Guardian.
Some posts demand for revenge against Prince Uldren, the Awoken who pulls the trigger on Cayde in the trailer. One considers a a future where players ask him to bring them the head of a Gatelord, only to kill him anyway — a reference to a obnoxious quest Uldren sends players on in Destiny.
While some fantasize over revenge, others are thrilled to have a villain to hate.
Easily the most important post on the subreddit is a plea to Bungie, begging the developer to allow players to adopt Colonel, Cayde-6’s chicken. It even has a detailed description of why all of the other characters in the known Destiny-verse would make subpar parents. The community is concerned about Colonel’s future, and for good reason.
While the subreddit is the best place to find Cayde-related goofs, Twitter isn’t far behind.

The Destiny community is having fun with itself and the game for the first time in a long time. After months and months of grey skies for Destiny 2, it’s nice to see the goofs flow again. Nobody is happy Cayde-6 is dead (except maybe Griffin), but everyone cares that he’s gone.
Sometimes, shitposting is the only thing you can do to dry your eyes.
