Black Ops 4 Zombies’ Blood of the Dead episode heads back to Alcatraz

A fan favorite Zombies experience gets reimagined

For Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, developer Treyarch is leaning hard into Zombies, the cooperative multiplayer mode that the studio is famous for creating. Black Ops 4 will launch with three separate Zombies modes, including a re-imagining of the Mob of the Dead map known as Blood of the Dead.

Blood of the Dead will send Black Ops 4 players back to Alcatraz, where they’ll play as Edward Richtofen, “Tank” Dempsey, Takeo Masaki and Nikolai Belinski as they explore a secret laboratory beneath the island prison.

“Encountering a familiar enemy Hell-bent on imprisoning them for all eternity, the Primis crew quickly realize that the future predicted by the Kronorium – the future they sought to secure – is now in jeopardy,” Activision said today, alongside the reveal of the Blood of the Dead trailer at San Diego Comic-Con.

Activision and Treyarch’s focus on Zombies for Black Ops 4 is also evident in the game’s limited edition, known as the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Mystery Box Edition. Look at this thing.

The deluxe version of the game includes a copy of Black Ops 4, the game’s Black Ops Pass, a SteelBook case, a 1,000-piece puzzle, 10 patches based on the game’s Specialists, three Zombies lithographs and more, all stuffed inside a skeletal package inspired by the in-game Zombies Mystery Box. It costs $199.99.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Oct. 12.
