Pokémon Go throws Registeel into newest Raid Battles

One more Regi to go until the set is complete

Pokémon Go’s new Raid Battles feature the steel-type Registeel, the second of the legendary “Regi” Pokémon trio to enter the game. Registeel is available now until mid-August, ample time for hardcore trainers to grab one their complete collections.

Otherwise, we can’t blame you if this new Pokémon leaves you twiddling your thumbs until the next update launches. When the third-gen legendary Registeel’s cousin Regice launched in mid-June, players were unenthused by the Pokémon’s reveal. It’s not a great competitor in the metagame, and it’s not the most exciting Pokémon to carry around in your collection either. Registeel is much the same way; it’s a high-defense, low-speed monster that doesn’t have much else to offer.

Registeel will be sticking around until Aug. 16, so perhaps we’ll all have time to start finding him endearing. At the same time, it’s just as likely that you won’t see it too often, what with all of those other potential Raid Battles out there. Now in the rotation are Alolan Marowak and Alolan Exeggutor, among others, so keep an eye out for those if Registeel doesn’t do it for you.

Next up is the final of the trio, Regirock. We imagine that will enter the ring on Aug. 16, once Registeel takes its bow.

The next level of puzzles.
