FunkO’s is the pop vinyl cereal brand of your Saturday morning breakfast dreams

Why have a collectible figure when you can also have sugary cereal?

FunkO’s for Mega Man and Cuphead & Mugman Funko

If it exists, there is a Funko version of it.

Such is the reality of pop culture in the year 2018. There are Funko versions of about every character and major pop culture figure imaginable, ranging from Marvel and Overwatch heroes to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, from Carmen Sandiego to Grease’s Danny Zuko. Very few parts of popular culture remain un-Funko’d.

And now, Funko is taking over the breakfast realm.

That’s right. Funko is releasing a line of cereal called (appropriately) FunkO’s. There will be a multitude of FunkO’s cereals, each associated with — you guessed it! — a different pop culture figure or brand. Relive your childhood days of plunging into sugary cereal for a prize! Except instead of a toy, you’ll get a Funko Pop! Vinyl, which is totally different.

The first wave of FunkO’s out on the market will debut this July at a host of different locations. Who said that getting your new favorite pop culture breakfast cereal would be easy? The “generic” Freddy Funko FunkO’s will be available through Funko directly. The Mega Man FunkO’s will be available at GameStop, while the Cuphead & Mugman FunkO’s (from StudioMDHR’s Cuphead) will only be at Hot Topic. Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th’s Jason will be available at FYE. Gollum from the Lord of The Rings will have his FunkO’s sold at BoxLunch.

If these characters don’t tickle your pop culture fancy, never fear. A second wave of FunkO’s hits limited stores in August. Pennywise will be available at Hot Topic, Huckleberry Hound at Funko, Batman and Batgirl at Entertainment Earth, Beetlejuice at Box Lunch, and Cthulhu at BAM!

Funko has an entire arsenal of pop culture figures at its disposal, and damn if the company isn’t going to put them to good use with a sugary breakfast cereal. Keep your eyes peeled for your favorite characters if they didn’t make the cut this time.
