By now you have probably seen the video of the man and woman, accused of using a stolen credit card in an Alberta convenience store, making a prolonged, hilarious and unsuccessful attempt to escape after the fuzz was called to the scene. But when you see this footage set to the music and sound effects of Metal Gear Solid, it takes on such a new dimension that it’s funny all over again.
Twitter-er (and Tumblr-er) Omar Villegas is behind this comical recut, published Tuesday during what has to be the slowest and most unproductive week in United States history.

For those familiar with this work of cinema’s emotional climax, it’s made even better with a cut to a first-person crawl through an HVAC duct, then some well chosen effects (the exclamation-point guards-alerted noise, and some chatter). Bravo, Omar.
For more on this incident, The Huffington Post has a 1,300-word breakdown of this 90-second clip, proving that literally no one wants to work this week and everyone wants to watch dumb videos at the office.
