Electronic Arts has acquired Industrial Toys, the mobile game developer founded by Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian in 2012. The studio will become part of EA’s Worldwide Studios to “focus on new experiences,” according to an announcement from EA.
Industrial Toys is best known for its work on mobile shooter games Midnight Star and its sequel, Midnight Star: Renegade. The Pasadena, California-based studio employs 14 people, who will be tasked with bringing new game concepts to life at EA.
Prior to founding Industrial Toys, Seropian co-founded Bungie, where he worked on Marathon and Halo: Combat Evolved. After Bungie was sold to Microsoft, Seropian went on to found Wideload Games, developer of Stubbs the Zombie and Hail to the Chimp. Wideload was later acquired by Disney, and Seropian was named vice president of game development for Disney Interactive Studios. Seropian left Disney in 2012 to establish Industrial Toys.
