Counter-Strike: GO brings back the MP5

The old reliable submachine gun makes it debut in CS:GO today

Valve

Counter-Strike’s K&M submachine gun, better known among players as the MP5, is now part of the arsenal in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, as of an update released today by Valve. It’s the first time the gun, which has made an appearance in every other Counter-Strike game, has been available in CS:GO.

CS:GO’s version of the MP5 is known as the MP5-SD and comes with an integrated silencer. According to the Counter-Strike blog, the new gun “features higher movement speed at the cost of some damage and accuracy on the move.”

Valve is offering the MP5-SD as an alternative to the MP7, the submachine gun that effectively replaced the MP5/K&M SMG in CS:GO.

Global Offensive players will be able to try out the new MP5-SD in offline modes and in official casual and deathmatch servers.

Counter-Strike’s MP5 is based on the real-world Heckler & Koch MP5-N. The gun is a popular choice in Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike Source due to its low cost, high rate of fire and low recoil.
