Square Enix’s mysterious new project, The Quiet Man, was first teased at this year’s E3 with a short live-action trailer. The publisher revealed more details about the game today with a trailer that shows off its combat and a more plot-heavy one.
The plot-focused trailer mixes live action and CG and follows the protagonist of the game, Dane, as he navigates a mysterious nightclub and cityscape. There are flashes of ominous-looking items — a note made of cut-out letters, a voodoo doll, a bird bound with red ribbon, a hooded masked figure. Overall, it’s quite eerie and, much like the synopsis describes, has an overall cinematic quality to it.
The official synopsis is as follows:
Unraveling within a single night, players take the role of deaf protagonist Dane as he fights his way through a “soundless” world to discover the motives behind the kidnapping of a songstress from a mysterious masked man. Embark on an adrenaline-fueled motion picture like experience which can be completed in one sitting.
There are no live-action clips in the combat-focused trailer, however, and the fighting seems to be focused on hand-to-hand combat, dodging and countering.
The Quiet Man will be released as a download-only title on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam. It will cost $14.99. There is no release date yet.
